For the 5th year, The 6th Regiment United States Colored Troops presents "Three Centuries of African American Soldiers", its' annual Black History Month program with exhibits, speakers, historical interpreters, media, and literature about the military experience of blacks, who have fought in all wars, from colonial period to the Korean conflict.

Black History program to be held at the La Mott Community Center on
Dr. Anthony Waskie will speak about civil rights leader and hero, Octavius
V. Catto. Dr. James Paradis will discuss the three 6th regiment USCT
Heroes depicted in the "Three Medals of Honor" painting by Don Troiani which was
unveiled at the Philadelphia Union League this past summer.
Lucretia Mott (Kerry Bryan) and a number of USCT re-enactors will be
present to meet and greet. Civil War music interludes and sing-a-long will be led
by re-enactors Joe Becton and Antoine Watts.

150th Anniversary Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremonies. Civil War groups and organizations that parade through Gettysburg to the G.A.R. Memorial and the High Water Mark Monument to commemorate the soldiers of the Union Army. Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and Veterans Reserve, which sponsors a wreath laying ceremony at 10 AM at the G.A.R. Memorial. The parade through Gettysburg begins at 1:00 PM.

On October 4, 1777, the Continental Army attempted to fight the British out of Germantown. Washington and his troops lost the battle and were forced to retreat to Valley Forge for the winter.

The 1st Rhode Island Regiment will represent men of African descent who fought in this battle.
